PIONEER PUZZLE #4

Puzzle #4:  What do you think this is?

ANSWER TO PUZZLE #3:  SUGAR AUGER
In the 1840s sugar came in large hard blocks. It had to be broken up to use it. The saints forced the sugar auger into the sugar block and twisted it around to break up the sugar.

  1. Great pictures! It is going to be a wild and crazy summer for you, I have a feeling! OK, I think the object in the photo this week is a candle mold. Am I close? I wouldn't have guessed the sugar auger in a million years. But it makes sense now! I hope you are in good health, good spirits, and I know you are in good company. You will love interacting with all the tourists this summer. Take care. You are in our prayers. Hugs from me!!

  2. Claudia, my guess is included with a comment with another photo. Oh, the fun you are having! And I know there is a lot of hard work along the way. You will bless so many lives!

  3. Well, I wouldn't have guessed the sugar auger either. And I have to agree with Lesli-- it looks like a candle mold to me.
